1957 CHEVROLET CORVETTE RACE CAR



Of the 6,339 Corvettes raised in 1957, just 43 were requested with Rochester fuel infusion and the unique RPO 579E “racer” choice, which incorporated an exceptional brand new “air box” admission. These autos moreover had the obligatory RPO 684 Heavy Duty Racing Suspension, which incorporated great job springs and stuns, front stabilizer bars, a speedy directing connector and sintered metallic front and back brake linings with finned brake drums.

Brake cooling was supplied by catching crisp air in uncommon scoops called “elephant ears.” These scoops coordinated air into the brakes through screened support plates. In 1957, what added up to 51 Corvettes were transformed with this exceptional braking and large calling suspension bundle. This auto, serial #5938, was transformed late in the year and practically promptly pressed into consistent race obligation at Riverside Raceway in Southern California. Holder Dave King hustled the auto through the 1960s and sold it in 1976. Rich Mason acquired the auto in 1980 and kept hustling it all through the West until 2002.



Dave Dwoskin obtained the auto in 2003 and stuck to this same pattern, speeding it all through the West then after that restoring it in 2004. The auto contended in occasions at Riverside, the Monterey Historics, Sears Point, Laguna Seca, San Diego, Buttonwillow, California Speedway, Portland International, Willowspring and Palm Springs. It is at present claimed by John Justo, who has hustled it at Lime Rock and Watkins Glen International.
